Kaylyn Abdul-Jabar Comes Full Circle at FSH

For Figure Skating in Harlem alumna Kaylyn Abdul-Jabar ’18, confidence and leadership began with advocating for herself to join the program. At FSH, she found a community of girls who looked like her and coaches, mentors, and educators who encouraged her to embrace her authentic self and believe in her potential.

Throughout her years as a student, those relationships reinforced that barriers and circumstances did not have to define her future. Through skating and the support of her FSH community, Kaylyn developed the confidence to pursue new opportunities and speak up for herself.

Today, Kaylyn works as a Clinical Research Coordinator at NYU Grossman School of Medicine while pursuing her master’s degree in Bioethics at New York University. She also teaches at Figure Skating in Harlem, bringing her journey full circle.

As a coach, Kaylyn carries forward the encouragement she received as a student. She now helps the next generation of FSH girls build their skills, believe in themselves, and recognize their own potential.

Kaylyn’s story reflects the lasting impact of representation, mentorship, and a community that invests in young women. We are proud to celebrate her accomplishments and grateful that she continues to give back to the community that helped shape her.
