I Can Excel

Each week, students engage in four hours of combined skating instruction and off-ice conditioning, paired with three hours of education and leadership development. High school students also receive focused college and career readiness support. Programming runs approximately 3:00–7:00 PM on designated cohort days, with schedules varying by grade group.

The 2026–2027 season runs from Tuesday, October 13th, 2026, through Thursday, March 25th, 2027. The schedule varies by cohort. Please see the tentative schedule below for your child's cohort days and rink locations.

Orientation will take place at our Academic Center at 361 W 125th St from 4:45–7:00 PM. An RSVP link will be sent to all registered families.

• Champs (Grades 6–8): Monday, October 7th
• Pros (Grades 4–5): Tuesday, October 8th
• Leaders (Grades 9–12): Wednesday, October 9th
• Stars (Grades 1–3): Thursday, October 10th

Skating lessons are held at outdoor rinks — Riverbank State Park and the Gottesman Rink at the Davis Center. Please refer to the tentative schedule for your cohort's specific rink days.

Each student receives a blue FSH fleece jacket, an FSH t-shirt, personally fitted ice skates, a skate bag, and soakers. Performance costumes and tights are also provided for the Ice Show. Skates, skate bag, and soakers must be cared for and returned at the end of the season.

The following must be submitted before your child can begin participation:

• Child medical form dated after 10/13/2025
• June 2026 Report Card

Please include the student's name on all uploaded files. Report cards will also be required 3 times throughout the season. If applicable, please also submit your child's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

FSH values commitment and understands that families have varying school schedules. However, because every component of I Can Excel works together to support each student's growth, we are unable to accommodate students missing entire portions of programming. Students are allowed up to 6 excused absences throughout the season.

Yes! Students must bring their own lunch and snacks each program day.

Tuition is based on a sliding scale ranging from $300–$1,320 per student, determined by household income and family size. No student is turned away due to financial need. Financial aid is available for qualifying families — financial documents are required to apply. Monthly and biweekly installment plans are also available. You can view the full tuition scale here.

A $50 refundable program deposit is required at registration. This deposit is returned at the end of the season if skates, skate bag, and soakers are returned in good condition and tuition is paid in full.

Yes! Families registering multiple children receive $100 off the 2nd child and $50 off each additional child. Sibling discounts are only applied when all children are registered together in the same transaction.

A $20 fee applies for the first 15 minutes late, and $10 for each additional 15 minutes. Families are responsible for timely pickup at the end of each program day.

Beyond the regular season, FSH students enjoy a dedicated career learning week, a 2-day Ice Show, an end-of-season Award Ceremony, and other community events. As students grow in skill and commitment, there are also opportunities to participate in competitive synchronized skating.
