FSH Awarded NYC Her Future, "Heart of the Community Award"

Figure Skating in Harlem is proud to be recognized by the Mayor’s Office through NYC Her Future with the “Heart of the Community” Award—presented to organizations that are creating meaningful change for girls and young women across New York City.

This award celebrates the deep, community-rooted work that has defined Figure Skating in Harlem for nearly 30 years. Our programs continue to open doorscombining academic enrichment, leadership development, and access to the sport of figure skating to help girls thrive in every area of their lives.

This recognition is a testament to the vision of our Founder and CEO, Sharon Cohen, whose leadership has built a model where excellence on the ice is matched by achievement in the classroom and beyond.

It also reflects the collective power of our community—our students who show up with determination and courage, our families who entrust us with their daughters’ futures, our alumnae who return as mentors and leaders, and our partners and supporters who make this work possible.

At its core, the “Heart of the Community” Award affirms what we know to be true: when girls are given access, opportunity, and consistent support, they don’t just succeed—they lead.
